 Blast rips through Indonesian McDonald's

Indonesian police say two people have been killed in an explosion at a McDonald's restaurant on the island of Sulawesi.

At least two others were reported to have been injured in the blast in the city of Makassar, which was followed about an hour later by another explosion.

Police said they said were checking whether they caused by bombs.

The second incident was at a car showroom about four kilometres from the fast-food restaurant.

Sulawesi has seen clashes - including bomb attacks - between Muslims and Christians in recent years.

A peace deal was signed late last year but clashes have been on the rise lately.

There have been a string of bus bombs and raids of villages by bands of armed men.

Correspondents say attackers in Sulawesi rarely target Western interests like McDonald's.
