Animal rights activists sprayed fake blood and threw chicken feathers on YUM! Brands Chief Executive David Novak. The protest was aimed at raising attention to what activists from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called KFC's cruelty to chickens during the raising, transport and slaughter of the animals. The company called for the perpetrators to be prosecuted, calling it "an act of corporate terrorism." Novak, who was not hurt, is head of the Kentucky-based YUM! Brands, which owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, along with KFC. Earlier this month, the group staged protests outside other KFCs in Germany. Copyright 2003 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
