Cheney's daughters not going to Baghdad

Vice President Richard B. Cheney's daughter is not going to be a human shield in Baghdad.
"Neither daughter even has plans to travel to that region, let alone Iraq," a Cheney spokesman told United Press International.
Echo of Russia Radio Saturday cited unofficial sources when reporting Mr. Cheney's daughter, Elizabeth, had stopped in Amman, Jordan, en route to "war-torn Baghdad."
"According to unofficial sources, Elizabeth intends to join with members of the 'human shields,' located at important Iraqi sites," reported Echo of Russia, an independent news radio station founded by media baron Vladimir Gusinsky in the 1990s.
The report was quickly translated into English and made the rounds of alternative Internet news sites, described as a piquant "blockbuster." The story fomented for 48 hours, and by yesterday morning, rumors had Mr. Cheney bound for Jordan to dissuade both his daughters from shield duty.
Not so, UPI reported.
"Elizabeth, 36, is married with three children in Washington, where she is deputy assistant secretary for Near-East affairs at the State Department. Mary, 34, has just completed her master's degree of business administration at Denver University," the spokesman said.
Everyone, including Dad, is currently stateside.
